Operation of Cyclone Filters
A cyclone filter, or Vortex Cyclone Filter, is a form of centrifugal separator used to remove solid, undissolved particles from liquid, generally water, by mass. This is achieved by having the liquid spin rapidly, which causes the heavier particles to drop downward under gravity and centrifugal force. The separation can be optimized depending on the density of the solid as well as the liquid, and the same can be controlled by adjusting the speed of rotation.
Uses of Cyclon Filters
Cyclone filters are especially suited to handle relatively large amounts of water at a quick pace and require less space. A significant advantage over centrifuge is no moving parts, and the velocity and pressure of the incoming water produces the centrifugal force. Cyclone filters, like the cyclonic separator or hydrocyclone filters, are filtration systems often used for separating sand from water. In the offshore industry, they are used to separate oil from water.
