The world of liquid filtration is all about efficiency and reliability. Two common techniques that complement each other perfectly are the Cyclone Separator and the Bag Filter Housing. Whereas the Cyclone Separator provides fast and effective removal of coarse particles such as sand and gravel, the Bag Filter Housing acts as a fine safety filter that protects pumps and piping from smaller contaminants.
What is a cyclone separator?
A Cyclone Separator uses centrifugal force to hurl heavier solids, such as sand and sludge, out of the liquid. The water is introduced tangentially, forcing the solids to the outer wall and sinking downward. The filtered water flows on cleanly. Efficiency is between 85% and 92%, which is often sufficient as pre-filtration.
What are Bag Filter Housings?
The bag filter housing (Bag Filter Housing) works simply but effectively: the liquid flows through a filter bag that retains solid particles. This filter bag is easy to change, which ensures minimal downtime and maintenance. Bag filters are often used at higher volumes where reliable filtration and quick changeability are essential.
When do you choose which system?
- Cyclone separator: Ideal for streams with lots of sand or gravel, where coarse particles need to be removed quickly.
- Bag Filter Housing: Suitable for liquids with less, but finer contamination. Especially valuable as a second line of defense before sensitive installations.
- Combination: For heavily contaminated liquids, the smartest choice is a combination: the cyclone captures the coarse dirt, while the bag filter housing holds back the fine residual dirt. This extends the life of the strainer, reduces maintenance and ensures a cleaner end result.
